You asked and we've delivered. This will be the fourth webinar we've ever hosted focusing on topical legal industry news, trends and developments - a topic that we're often asked about during our events.

This event will be hosted by ex-Magic Circle lawyer Jake Schogger and Luke Mitchinson, and will focus on legal news/trends from June - September 2025.

Luke trained with Jake at Freshfields, and subsequently worked for years as a transactional lawyer at both a Magic Circle and an elite US law firm, before leaving City law to work as a headhunter. He now helps lawyers from NQs through to partners secure roles at a broad range of commercial law firms through his business ARMA Search.

There will also be a Q&A, where you'll have a unique opportunity to ask Jake and Luke any of the questions that you might not feel comfortable asking law firms - pay, culture, rankings etc. Nothing is off limits, as both presenters are now totally independent from City law firms!

Luke Mitchinson

Luke trained and qualified at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he worked for 3.5 years (including a secondment at Bank of America Merrill Lynch). He then joined the private equity team at Ropes & Gray, where he worked for 3 years, before changing careers to focus on legal headhunting.

Jake Schogger

Jake Schogger is a best-selling commercial awareness author, ex-Magic Circle lawyer, and the founder and CEO of Commercial Law Academy.

He trained at Freshfields, then spent years at a boutique law firm advising start-ups and scale-ups on a range of corporate, commercial and employment matters. He has also worked extensively as a career coach, and continues to deliver employability and skills presentations at leading universities and law firms across the UK.
